From today (27 October 2025), new legal timeframes in England require landlords to investigate serious damp and mould within 24 hours and complete repairs within 10 days. Scotland will adopt the same standards in March 2026 through the forthcoming Housing (Scotland) Bill.
This is a defining moment for the sector – not because landlords lack commitment, but because traditional approaches are too slow, too expensive and too disruptive to meet the standards now set in law.
The reality today:
🏚 1.3 million households living with damp and mould
⏳ Drying and reinstatement taking weeks to months
🏠 Decants, storage, upheaval and repeat complaints
💷 Billions in avoidable social and health costs
Housing providers are now expected to deliver faster resolutions, healthier homes, fewer repeat repairs and minimal tenant disruption, all under tighter budgets and sharper regulation.
A prevention-led model is no longer optional – it’s essential. NexGen helps landlords meet both the spirit and the deadlines of Awaab’s Law by accelerating the slowest part of most remediation programmes: structural drying.
Our far-infrared technology:
⚡ Rapidly dries properties – far faster than dehumidifiers
🏠 Reduces or avoids decants and temporary rehousing
🔁 Stops recurrence by preventing moisture build-up
💨 Operates with ventilation and open windows – lower heat loss
🌿 Supports net-zero heating goals at the same time
This isn’t just about compliance. It’s about:
✅ Healthier homes
✅ Stronger tenant relationships
✅ Better value for money
✅ Fewer complaints and escalations
✅ Long-term prevention, not short-term patching
Housing teams now need solutions that are fast, scalable and proven. If you’re reviewing your damp and mould strategy and want to cut decants, shorten repair times and meet statutory deadlines with confidence, we’re here to help. Get in touch below.
