Client Situation:
Butlin’s needed to reduce their energy bills, prevent guest-related damage, and eliminate safety risks caused by high temperature electric panel heaters installed at low level in chalets.

Challenges
Guests frequently left heating on while away, leading to significant energy waste. The existing wall-mounted panel heaters operated at high surface temperatures, resulting in reports of burns and scalding. Additionally, misuse and accidental damage caused frequent breakdowns, increasing maintenance costs and disrupting operations. In some cases, heaters were used to dry towels, creating a fire risk. During off-season periods, unheated chalets were also prone to damp and mould.
Solution
NexGen implemented an intelligent infrared heating system with simple controls to limit excessive usage and cap maximum temperatures. Optional occupancy sensors further reduce wasted energy by ensuring heating only operates when rooms are in use.
Ceiling-mounted infrared paper operates at low surface temperature and low voltage, eliminating burn and electrocution risks. Their discreet, integrated design reduces the likelihood of damage, cutting maintenance requirements and improving overall safety – particularly for families with young children.
The system also includes moisture monitoring, automatically activating heating when low temperatures or high humidity are detected. This prevents damp and mould buildup during periods of low occupancy.
